Director Of Engineering

About the position:

The hands-on Director of Engineering (DOE) will lead platform strategy and development. This includes architecting, implementing, and managing the development and release of Miro’s platform. The DOE will weigh-in on business and hiring efforts, ensure technical compliance, and collaborate closely with Design, Neuroscience, and Statistics / A.I. to release intelligent, useful, and lovable products.

Responsibilities:

• Architect and develop early systems to meet technical, scientific, and business goals
• Lead the development of web applications, A.I., machine learning, and mobile apps
• Oversee, document, design, and build data processing pipelines
• Ensure system quality through well-documented testing and monitoring
• Oversee, design, implement, and maintain web services
• Design and document schema and query optimization (Postgres/SQL, MySQL, NoSQL)
• Design, document, and maintain required software and data version controls
• Oversee the design and documentation of QA systems
• Maintain clean, well-documented code
• Work with Compliance to ensure technical systems meet regulatory standards
• Encourage a culture of easy communication, honesty, and collaboration

Requirements:

• Proven hands-on engineer + experienced technical leader
• Experience working at an early stage start-up
• Experience launching consumer products
• Passion for clean, well-documented code
• Familiarity with Web applications, Eng Ops, AWS services, A.I., machine learning, and mobile development
• BS or MS in CS or equivalent field
• 10+ years experience in Python, Django, no/SQL, data handling and management, data security and encryption, and QA.
