Wanderful is seeking a passionate, talented engineer to help change travel for women everywhere.

ABOUT WANDERFUL:

Women are traveling the world more than ever before. ⅔ of travelers are female. We make 80% of travel purchasing decisions. But when it comes to traveling on our own, we lack a significant level of support. We are constantly told to worry about our safety. We look for guidance on how to dress appropriately. We wish we had someone who could connect with on the ground.

But what if we did? What if the moment we arrive we have someone there who can host us in her home, have dinner with us, give us tips on what to do next?

Wanderful is a community of 40,000 women travelers around the world that meet and connect both online and in 28 global chapters worldwide. Since we incorporated in 2013, we have been building a kind a supportive network of women around the world who can help each other.

Now, we’re activating these women by creating the first ever international identity-verified platform that helps women find, meet, and stay with other women travelers in real time, wherever they are in the world.

We are looking for a talented, scrappy, creative, adventurous web developer who can help us get there.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Be the first engineer to join Wanderful, leading the development of Wanderful’s product landscape and technology

Design architecture for Wanderful’s new platform (including tech stack)

Build Wanderful’s core REST API

Build mobile-responsive webapp for global network of hosts and travelers

Build, manage, and validate a tech roadmap for Wanderful’s products and services based on key goals and KPIs

Collaborate with marketing + operations teams to connect tech efforts to business goals

This position reports directly to Wanderful’s founder and CEO.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

3+ years of software engineering and IT experience

Frontend development skills (JS framework like React or Ember + SCSS)

Backend development skills with contemporary languages (e.g. Node, Ruby, Python)

Solid foundation in UX/design

Excellent communication skills

Strategic thinker and creative problem solver

Past experience with two-sided networks and/or sharing economy preferred
